My own experience with education's transition from physical to virtual in less than one week.

My transition was very difficult, principally because I love studying on campus. I would rather leave my house, take a bus and go to the university and not necessarily attend a class but also study on my own. There, I felt the obligation to do the activities from my subjects, also because I love the space. I mean, being in the library and surrounded by the other students which were doing the same I did, the silence and the peace that it gave me.

I have always known I get easily distracted and, in my house, I have all the comfort I want. I have my own bed where I can sleep whenever I want, I can do other things and not be worried about getting caught for not paying attention.

I prefer working with my teammates in the same place because we can talk easily, discuss, show our parts of the work and help us. Virtually all these are more difficult for me and I found it so frustrating. That is why I always suggested meeting at the campus to study.

When the first cases came into the country and the president placed restrictions to avoid an increasing infection rate, EAFIT adapted rapidly its activities to virtual. We all students and teachers must learn how to use the new system of classes. The first days were awful for me, because I could not find a way to feel comfortable studying like that. Also, I take my time to write down and I like to write down the last detail that the teachers explain, and I feel they talk faster in virtual than physical, so I was unable to retain all the information and put it in my notebook.

So, the first week of education's transition was a constant fight with myself to change my routine and my way of studying. Finally, I discovered it is easier and faster for me to type on my computer to take all notes and I can place them with the presentations and set all in the same space.
